Korean military laws for athletes

South Korea's current recruitment laws stipulate that athletes who win medals at the Olympic Games or gold medals at the Asian Games receive final exemptions from military service,
In return, they will be given military training for only 4 weeks in return for fully engaging in sport for 34 months (the duration of recruitment). They will then automatically be placed on the reserve list and are committed to attending a few days of annual military training for 6 years.

Athletes will be able to continue their sport freely, bring more medals to the state and represent Korea internationally
